Student Support

Remedial is run independently from the school. It is not included in the school fees structure and  is considered an added service as it is done on the premises. Mrs Crystle Swanepoel is a qualified Remedial teacher and she has a team of teachers who assist learners during school and after school. She is also involved in exam and test prep and comes in as an advisor to assist teachers where needed.

Tutoring is done during the year. Learners tutor learners. This is overseen by Mrs Yaka.

We realise that for a child to succeed, you need to take into consideration all the variables. In our ever changing world we have come to realise that family structures are not the same as they were  in the past. Divorce , single parents and living with grand parents has become part of our society. Social Media and the media as a whole have also transformed the way children see themselves. There has been an attack on identity and what it means. With this being said, we have connected emotional intelligence with academic performance. In oder to give our learners a safe space where they can talk about their emotions and feelings and  how to cope with being  introduced to a counselling programme.

Our counsellors are all recognized by the council of South Africa. The process is as follows:

Learners are either identified by a teacher or parent and are recommended to receive counselling to find the root cause of behavioural issues.

The school will furnish parents with a list of recommended therapists.

pastoral care

Our school is a department of Word of Faith Christian Centre. As part of our school programme we have visits from our pastors on a weekly basis. This is separate to assemblies. Pastor Desmond Lepson comes in once a week to talk to and share a message with Grade 1- 7. Pastor Matthew Cullis visits once a week with the Word of Faith Bible College students to talk to Grade 8-12. Duing this time our learners are tought biblical principals and are encouraged to share their needs for prayer.

During these evenings parents are trained or informed on current problems our learners face. We cannot change the  fast paced environment we are living in. We strive to create awareness and to talk to our learners.

Due to Covid regulations we are unfortunately not able to host these evenings at present.

We have a network of professionals that assist us. We have two psychologists who visit Willow Academy to conduct assessments .
